Shane Matthew Vilanova
Shane Matthew Vilanova, 26, of Ocean passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, after a lengthy, difficult battle with substance use. Born September 29, 1990 in Red Bank, he contained multitudes—a skateboarding, snowboarding adventurer who built computers to play World of Warcraft, a gifted former wrestler and 2009 graduate of Ocean Township High School who loved Parks & Recreation and sharing in the Weekapaug Groove with the band Phish.
He is survived by his loving parents, Joseph and Claire Vilanova; his devoted brother, John, and his fiancée, Sara; his aunts and uncles, Ellen Crossnohere and Theresa O’Malley, Nancy and Bobby Baeza, Jimmy and Kathy Crossnohere, and Charlie and Barbara Vilanova; and his cousins, Erin, Daniel, and Evelyn Gualtieri, Paul, Allyson, Bobby, Kaitlyn, and Kerri.
Shane loved his family, friends, and dog, Sam, with all of his heart. Relatives and friends are invited to visit Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, on Monday, August 28, from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will begin at 10 am on Tuesday, August 29 at the same location. Entombment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park.
