Obituary for Eugene N. Ciroalo Sr.

Eugene N.  Ciroalo Sr.
Eugene “GPG” Ciroalo, 76, of Monmouth Beach, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 after a long battle with kidney and heart disease.
He was born in New York City and grew up in Highlands at Nick’s Pine Inn that was owned by his family. He moved to Long Branch before moving to Monmouth Beach 41 years ago.
Gene was an equipment operator for the City of Long Branch for 10 years before retiring. He then worked at Monmouth Park Racetrack as an equipment operator.
He was a member of the Army National Guard; a graduate of Holy Cross School in Rumson and Red Bank Catholic in 1959; he was a life member and past exalted ruler of the Long Branch Elks #742; life member of the IAMA and the Independent Fire Company in Long Branch. He also supported to VFW Gimbel-Leahy-Quirk Post #2226 in Oakhurst. Gene loved boating and had a Boat Captain’s license. He was an umpire for the Monmouth Beach Recreation and enjoyed playing the banjo.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Jean Ciroalo.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Rose Mary Castin Ciroalo; children, Ginoand his wife Donna Ciroalo; Jane and her husband Tom Flannigan and Jacqueline and her husband Markus Gordon; 11 grandchildren, Joseph and Angela Ciroalo, Lauren, Mackenzie, Erin and her husband Cristino Nieves, Kathleen, Kellie and Thomas Flannigan IV and Maggie, Nikolaus and Hailee Gordon; 2 great-grandchildren, Cristino III and Carmelo Nieves and his cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst. Funeral service 10 am Tuesday at the funeral home followed by entombment at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Long Branch Elks or the VFW Post # 2226.
